I am currently working on a novel in which my lead character becomes slightly obsessed with you. He is alone and heartbroken and dreams of meeting a beautiful girl who can play the violin. he's focused mainly on that image of happiness. Then he comes across your CD at Tower records one day, and that image finds a face. I can't say it's not somewhat autobiographical, but it's not obsessed or psychotic or anything. He just spends many nights sitting in his apartment after work, listening to you play Bach, and thinking about his violinist waiting out there for him to meet someday. Much madness ensues in the meantime, and he gets involved with a crazy woman, and has a moron friend sleeping on his couch, etc. Usual
scenario. The theme is mainly that I'm almost thirty and am still living like I'm eighteen and why? I'm about a hundred pages into, but have taken a small break to try and get some short stories published first. Plus, i need some distance between the first half and the second half. It's something i always do.
Write for awhile, take a break, then read the beginning over and write then end.
Anyway, thanks for your time. I currently live in Charleston, but the novel is set in New Orleans where i lived for a long time. I wish i could have caught your show playing duets with that cellist. I have everything you played on various CDs (I'm predominately a fan of chamber music and have few CDs with anything bigger than a quartet playing on it). I'm big fan of old Yehudi, and am currently obsessed with Kodaly's sonata for solo cello, and Britten's string quartets #2 & #3.
Try to get on St Paul Sunday sometime!!!
Thanks for all the beautiful music.
A fan
