Ewa Kupiec has become known as one of the fastest rising Polish artists of our time. Her virtuosity and instinctive individuality of playing were described by Lutoslawski as a "true revelation".

At an early age, Ewa Kupiec toured extensively in Eastern Europe. Since then she has made considerable impact in Western Europe, playing at major international festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Jersey Arts Festival, Bad Kissinger Sommer, Casals Festival, Kuhmo, MDR Musiksommer and Rheingau Musik Festival, plus recitals in many major European cities including Berlin, Birmingham, Paris, Rome, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Leipzig and Prague.

Since winning the ARD competition in Munich in 1992, Kupiec has enjoyed an extremely busy recital and chamber schedule offering a diverse repertoire and partnering a number of celebrated artists including, cellists Mørk, Vogler, Cohen, Pergamensczikov and Gerhardt, violinists Oleg and Faust, flautist Piccinini and pianist Duchâble. Kupiec has also participated in special projects with the Petersen, Prazak and Keller Quartets.

Orchestral engagements have included appearances with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Helsinki Radio Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Gürzenich Orchestra and NDR Radio Philharmonie Hannover.

Distinguished conductors featured in Kupiec’s career to date include: van Beek, Blomstedt, Alsop, Houtmann, Janowski, Judd, Andras Ligeti, Lintu, Nowak, Oramo, Östman, Rasilainen, Skrowaczewski, Varga, Wit and Hugh Wolff.

Recent highlights include her Japanese recital debut in Tokyo, US debut with Milwaukee Symphony, a German summer festivals tour with the BBC Philharmonic, and concerts with the Warsaw Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de l’Auvergne, Stuttgart Philharmonic and Kölner Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester. In recital Kupiec performs regularly across Europe, and in 2002 performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, as part of the Berlin Philharmonic’s own series.

Forthcoming highlights include concerto performances with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, Munich Philharmonic, St Louis Symphony, Netherlands Philharmonic, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Gulbenkian Orchestra and Orquesta Sinfonia de Galicia, as well as a busy series of solo recitals across Germany and in festivals in France and Switzerland.

Besides making numerous recordings for the Polish Radio, BBC Radio, Austrian Radio and NDR Hamburg, Kupiec has made several award winning CDs for Koch International. Her first, a premiere recording of Carl Loewe´s piano concerto, was followed by her recording of Lutoslawski and Szymanowski piano concerti which received the renowned "Echo Klassik Preis". Other recordings include a disc of works for piano and orchestra by Paderewski; (Koch/Schwann), Chopin’s Preludes & Nocturnes (Koch Classics), a collection of solo piano works by Bacewicz, and a disc of works for flute and piano by Bartok, Martinu and Schulhof.

Ewa Kupiec was born in Duszniki, educated first in Katowice, then at the Chopin Conservatory in Warsaw and later at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and currently lives in Munich.
