In a review of Vanessa Mae's newest album, Classical Collection I, Joe Magil rips the release apart - "this collection is even more bafflingly worthless than the earlier one. ... reveal[s] technical incompetence and musical immaturity." He continues: "I look at this set and ask "Why"? Why put so much effort and money into promoting someone who cannot even aspire to mediocrity? Must it be a beautiful young woman? How about Lara St. John then? There's a beautiful young woman who doesn't have a contract with a major like EMI, only in her case she actually has talent. Tons of it. Is there no justice in this world? Please, Lord. Give me a sign."
