Comback season ends on high notes

As impressive as she was expressive, the [...] virtuosa performed with such naturalness and depth of feeling that she caused you to think better of Bruch's concerto, which tends to be gloomy and thematically limited.

St. John nearly danced with her Stradivarius, as if in an embrance...she conveyed not just expansive melodies and bravura flourishes but a musical sensitivity that made the concerto's German romaticism sound anything but ponderous.

Given her talent, St. John will probably return to the Symphony.
