Absolutely sizzling, energetic ensemble

Bach's E major Concerto [...] featured soloist Lara St. John in a free-wheeling performance, a bit rough-and-ready. She seemed completely at home [...] in the Slavic soulfulness and dazzling violinistic trick's of Rechtman's Variations on "Dark Eyes," in which the mournful Gypsy-like tune gave her rhythmic space and freedom. She made good use of it.
