ASO concludes season with Dunner's B's
Unlike Brahms' famous concerto, [Bruch's concerto] is a young person's creation, and it was given a young person's passionate performance in the hands of Canadian-born Lara St. John, a major new talent with an impressive list of major orchestra appearances and several best-selling recordings to her credit.
Ms. St. John set about the work's recreation with all seriousness and determination that youth brings to passion, sweeping through the first movement with a sweet lyricism and escalating intensity. Her technique is impressive and articulate, tossing out the double stops and moments of bravura without a hitch, imbueing it with a resolute urge to move ahead.
