We are delighted to welcome Louis Lortie to our roster (European representation). Since his career was launched in 1984 when he won prizes at the Leeds and Busoni competitions, Lortie (born in Montreal) has won over critics and public for his highly imaginative and poetic interpretations of a broad piano repertoire, made known to a wider audience through his recordings for Chandos; he is midway through the complete Beethoven piano sonatas (also in recital this season and next in London, Toronto and Milan).
His engagements this season have included the Deutsche Sinfonieorchester with Ashkenazy and the Berlin Sinfonieorchester with Schoenwandt, Orchestre National de France, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Royal Scottish National, Cleveland, San Francisco, Seattle, St Louis and Houston, with Minnesota and Los Angeles as we go to press.
"Lortie's playing of Chopin has that unfathomable poetic quality which is a hallmark of exceptional artistry." Daily Telegraph
