"Ein neuer Bruckner Dirigent für Wien" - thus was Claus Peter Flor hailed by the Wiener Zeitung after his concert with the Vienna Symphony in Vienna (Musikverein and Konzerthaus) prior to a 10-concert tour of Japan (an Intermusica tour, in collaboration with Kajimoto in Japan).
The past few months have seen Maestro Flor returning to many old friends - concerts at the Luzern and Montreux festivals with the Philharmonia Orchestra featuring Shostakovich and Wagner, followed by Beethoven in London and on tour in the UK. This followed on from a superb performance of the Brahms Requiem during the last week of the London Proms, as well as a concert at La Scala. After another successful concert in Paris in January with l'Orchestre National de France, the leading critic of Le Figaro began his review by saying "Claus Peter Flor est un magnifique chef d'orchestre."
Concerts in the USA in the past few months have included the Philadelphia Orchestra, Dallas and San Francisco symphonies. His release of Mendelssohn's oratorio Walpurgisnacht with the Bamberg Symphony on BMG has attracted much attention, consolidating his reputation made with his earlier recordings of the Mendelssohn symphonies and overtures, widely regarded as the best available.
