Andreas Haefliger featured in own 3-concert series at London's Wigmore Hall
Wigmore Hall is featuring the diverse talents of Andreas Haefliger in three concerts within one week this Autumn. Haefliger will be appearing with guest artists including the remarkable baritone Matthias Goerne, the Takacs Quartet, the Safri Duo and flutist Marina Piccinini.

The programmes were devised by Haefliger, who also hand-selected the artists appearing with him. The series is also being performed in Freiburg under the auspices of the South West German Radio.

In November, he tours Europe with the SWF Symphony Orchestra playing Bartok's 3rd Concerto conducted by Michael Gielen (including conerts in Vienna and Frankfurt).

Last July Haefliger made his debut in Japan with both the NHK Symphony Orchestra and Kioi Hall Orchestra, including performances in Tokyo and Osaka, and has been immediately re-invited for 2000. In September he performed twice at the Montreux Festival - once with Matthias Goerne and once with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under their brand-new Director Herbert Blomstedt.

The concerts with Goerne are part of a continuing collaboration between Haefliger and the German baritone. The Guardian called their recital at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in November 1997 "the recital of the year" and their recent Schubert recording for Decca was awarded a Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik as well as an ECHO prize.

"There was a combination of delicacy and dexterity at his fingertips, and each piece was touched by a wonderful poetry of feeling and imagination." (The Times)
