John Daniecki, tenor...

b i o g r a p h y...........back to roster....up July 2012 John Daniecki has performed throughout the world to great critical acclaim. He is known globally as a singing actor of the highest caliber with performances consistently garnering both public and critical acclaim. The Washington Post wrote, "John Daniecki has that rarest of all combinations, a good tenor voice and a strong stage presence. His handling of Rossini's florid vocal lines is as impressive as his tone and the superb clarity of his diction." 2012/13 sees him perform Mahler’s 8th Symphony with the Canterbury Choral Society, while 2011/12 brought him to Musica Viva Hong Kong as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor and to the Huntsville Symphony in Carmina Burana. The prior season he was heard with the Peniel Concert Choir in Messiah, and during 2009 he portrayed Snout in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Princeton Festival, joined the Colorado Symphony in Rachmaninov’s The Bells, sang Beethoven’s Ninth with the Houston Symphony and participated in the annual Opera Gala with Johnstown Symphony. In recent performance seasons, Daniecki has been lauded in debuts with the opera houses of Bonn, Dresden, Munich, Düsseldorf, Palermo, Hannover, Weimar, and Cleveland. His concert appearances during that time have included performances with the symphonies of Valencia and Madrid, St. Louis, Detroit, Baltimore and the Macao Festival (China), among others. Debuting at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1999, he took part in the world premiere of Amistad by Anthony Davis. That same year also included his debut with the Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center. He made his South American debut as Gounod's Faust with the National Opera de Uruguay. As a concert artist, Mr. Daniecki has performed with virtually every major symphonic organization in North America and most in Europe. The orchestras of Montreal, Minneapolis, Toronto, Detroit, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Cleveland, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, New York and many others have included Daniecki as a featured artist. He has also appearedwith the Orquesta Nacional de Madrid (in performances of Honegger's Le Roi David and Orff's Carmina Burana, the New Zealand Symphony, and has recorded with the Moscow Radio and Television Orchestra. John Daniecki's recordings have been met with great praise. During December of 2002, he completed a "live-in-concert" recording, for broadcast on National Public Radio, of Mahler's Symphony No. 8 (Utah Symphony and Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Keith Lockhart conducting). The London/Decca recording of Carmina Burana, featuring Daniecki as the tenor soloist, was awarded a GRAMMY for Best Performance of a Choral Work (San Francisco Symphony, Herbert Blomstedt conducting). The North American premiere of Kurt Weill's Die Bürgschaft is another of his recording projects. First performed in the 2000 full production with the Spoleto Festival USA, Julius Rudel conducting, the EMI recording was made during the festival and released in 2001 to awards in Europe and rave reviews worldwide. His discography includes recordings of both concert and operatic works on the RCA, EMI, London/Decca and Bridge Records labels. Known as a specialist of roles for tenor that require a mastery of the highest vocal tessitura, John's most frequently performed roles include Tonio in La Fille du Regiment, the Duke in Verdi's Rigoletto, Edgardo in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, and Prince Ramiro in Rossini's La Cenerentola. He debuted at the Gärtnerplatz in Munich as Arnold in Rossini's William Tell, a role that includes more than twenty notes at high-C and above. He returned to Munich in the spring of 2004 for more performances of that same production. Daniecki's debut with the Nederlanse Opera was in the title role of The Nose of Shostakovich, notorious for it's more than twenty-five written high-C's. Two of the many roles that exemplify the natural ability, stellar technique, and faith to craft apparent in all of John's work. He has performed 'Carmina Burana' more than 160 times in both the opera and concerts. John's premiere festival appearances, have included Festival de Aix-en-Provence (Mozart: Die Schuldigkeit des Ersten Gebots), Spoleto Festival/Italy (Shostakovich's The Nose), Spoleto Festival/USA, Wexford Festival (Ireland in Herold's Zampa), Cincinnati May Festival, Blossom Festival, Saratoga Arts Festival (with Philadelphia Orchestra), Vest Norges Opera festival of Bergen, Norway and the Chatauqua Summer Festival. Living in both the USA and the EU, John sings in both Europe and the USA in the 2007 - 2008 season.
